Media Fails Again
Amsterdam…pogroms…God save us all. After months of calling Trump “a Hitler,” when the actual ghost of Nazism raises its head in Europe, where is the outrage? Where is the massive coverage?
Google it. As best as I can tell, among legacy media, CBS did a piece and the NYTimes has an article, but the story is largely missing. Commentary Magazine is, of course, all over it. Instapundit got to it last evening, including a link to The Times of Israel with the most important thing to note:
Israeli officials said 10 citizens were injured. Up to 10 people were at one point out of contact with their families, but by 3 p.m. Friday all were accounted for following the hours of overnight violence, apparently perpetrated largely by local Muslims and Arabs.
Ah, there is your answer. When liberal policies (mass immigration from Islamic regions) lead to genuine evil, the liberal media does not want to acknowledge liberal failure. And so, evil prevails.
It has been eight years since Islamic immigrants in Cologne, Germany created havoc on New Year’s Eve. It is nearly ten years since we learned of the “no-go zones” throughout Europe where Muslim communities have simply taken over. Islamic lawlessness in Europe is not a new problem – but it has been an ignored problem – and now it has festered to the point that an evil the western world once swore it would never allow again has returned.
The media dysfunction during the election cycle just concluded was extraordinary, but this…this is irredeemable. Since Watergate, journalism has slowly changed from reporting to crusading. But crusading for good has now become camouflaging evil.
This will be a difficult problem to solve – very difficult. But ignoring it only allows it to worsen. How dare we?
Random Thought
Trump’s political genius should now be evident to even the casual observer. Simply by calling every bluff, he forced liberals to keep raising the stakes until they appeared simply ludicrous. I think many will try to write the story of this election as “Trump did not win, Democrats lost.” But he goaded them into every wrong step they took. As a developer he is high risk/high reward. Politicians are generally quite risk averse. (Hence, they refuse to tackle the return of antisemitism to Europe.) Just by being Trump, he forced them into risky territory where they were most uncomfortable. Whatever else you may think of the man and his policies, he is an undeniable political genius.
Working Off The Stack
- “Quincy Jones Should Be Remembered for His Jazz, Not His Jackson” Yes…YES…a thousand times YES! Undeniable proof.
- When I first saw this, “The CDC Planned Quarantine Camps Nationwide,” I thought “clickbait.” But nope, real deal. I’d make a wisecrack referencing the opening of this post, but it’s not the least bit funny.
- I still do not understand WMD charges for conventional terrorist activity involving conventional explosives. The acts of terror charges are sufficient – such additional charges are a political statement, not law enforcement.
- I have seen at least three stories this week, all from European sources, on the very ugly air pollution situation in Lahore, Pakistan. That many stories appearing in a short period speaks to an information campaign – which indicates someone is looking for money to “solve” the problem. (Yes, I am increasingly cynical on environmental issues. Somewhere since my boyhood it has transmogrified from genuine concerns to a massive wealth transfer scheme.)
And now…the weekend.
