James Rosen is a real reporter and a superb professional.

So is Sharyl Attkisson.  There are others.

But for the most part –the vast majority actually– the Manhattan-Beltway media elite either slumbered or sucked up to President Obama from 2007 until now, circling the wagons to protect him, and refusing to follow obvious leads.

Even now stories of abuse of government power in the EPA, the SEC, and HHS are almost wholly unreported upon, and the questions surrounding Benghazi, the IRS and of course DOJ are hardly the subject of the famed “feeding frenzies” of old.

A kept press –recall JournoList– doesn’t generate a lot of sympathy outside of its own membership rolls, and my Tuesday Washington Examiner column reviews this reality.

There is real reason for concern, but getting the public to rally to the defense of a White House press corps that seems like the home team press box is hard to do.
