The Average American and Jan. 6

The events of a year ago are all the news today, but nobody in the real world is talking about it.  Everybody knows something bad happened, maybe even some lives were in danger, but it’s over, the good guys won, prosecute the bad actors and move on.  Insurrection?  That might technically be true, then again it might not, but most people don’t care one way or the other.  It was a relatively small group of people, and some of them were really, really stupid and criminal, ’nuff said.

Despite how incredibly distorted our politics have become in this nation, most people understand the power lies with us.  Most people in this country ignore, to the greatest extent possible, what happens in places like the White House and the Capitol.  For the average joe-on-the-street, if a bunch of yahoo’s took over the Capitol it would just be a different set of yahoo’s than operate the place now, but less legitimate and therefore easier to ignore.

There is no single event that more signifies the divide between our government and its people than the “remembrances” that are going on today.  It is, from the view of the average American, an exercise in indulgence – a bunch of self-important people in Washington expecting us to stop what we are doing to remember that for once they came face-to-face with the kind of mortal reality most of us live in every day.  Could lawmakers have died?  Of course, but most of us could die every day – especially in this day of Soros-funded prosecutors that make sure the rest of us walk the streets with criminals of all ilk.

You bunch want us to remember what happened to you?  Well, then you need to remember what happened to us when a guy decided he was more important than children in a Christmas parade.  You want us to remember what happened to you?  How about you remember the thousands of Americans, our friends and families, that you left stranded in Afghanistan.

You know what’s worse?  The transparency of all this “remembering.”  We all know what you are up to – you don’t really want us to remember some dire and memorable event in history – you just want to make political hay.  We’re out here trying to figure out what to do when teachers go on strike for no d*&^ good reason.  We honestly could care less about a criminal event that happened a year ago – we have more pressing problems.  But of course, you REALLY don’t want to deal with the teachers because they help to feather your nest.  They too are making a mountain out of a molehill for their own personal benefit.

To the average American both of you are creating, from very, very thin cloth, major problems for us in order to improve your own lives.  It is the complete antithesis of “public service.,” it makes a mockery of the idea.  We don’t want to remember – we want you to go away and leave us alone.
