Sunday just past marked the 40th anniversary of the accident at Chernobyl – an accident the aftermath of which the world will be dealing with for centuries to come. As I have said before, I was there about 5 years after. Typically such a disaster illustrates the worst and brings out the best in people. The worst is illustrated by the fact that it happened at all. The best was the response of people in ingenuity, effort and sacrifice.
